Some people call the Weedo Tina 2 a toy. It costs around 100–150 euros and has a 10 cm cube build volume, but I printed PLA, silk PLA, PETG and even TPU on it, and it basically never failed.
Out of the box in ten minutes
In March 2023 I tested the Tina 2 with Wi-Fi. Depending on where you buy it, it costs roughly 100–150 euros. There's nothing to assemble: you just connect the PTFE tube. The only thing I printed for it was a stand for larger spools. The SD card includes an older 4.x version of Cura with the printer profile already installed, so I was printing within about ten minutes. It also comes with a 250 g spool of Weedo's own filament, which isn't bad at all.
At first I didn't even realise the bed was heated, so I printed everything with a raft. The results were perfect anyway. A raft can save your life when adhesion is in doubt.
No bed levelling, really
Yes, you heard right: you don't level this printer. It does it by itself at the start of every print. The magnetic, flexible plate holds the print while it's hot, and then you pop it off, clean it and put it back. It's very hard to get a bad print. My kids, who are seven but have been around printers since they were two, can send a print, remove it and start the next one on their own. In fact, they're already using it more than I am, and they filmed many of the clips in the video.
What it printed
I expected it to be slow, but with my own Cura settings it prints at a decent speed. TPU worked once I slowed it down. A cube and a couple of balls came out well, and my kids took the balls. AzureFilm Tiger Orange PETG printed amazingly. A bunny at 0.2 mm came out really smooth, and Cura lets you go down to about 0.13 mm. A vase in vase mode, with 0.8 mm extrusion on a 0.4 mm nozzle, came out brilliant. A filament astronaut in AzureFilm silk lilac and a neon pink Benchy, with no tweaking and only a little stringing, completed the tests. The only real limit is size.
My first printer was an Artillery Genius, and for a long time I was scared of printing TPU and PETG on it. Here I loaded them and printed them. What more can you ask from a printer at this price?
