setting some goals for 2018

January 2018: everyone on YouTube was sharing their goals for the year, so I tried to put some order into mine. Three goals, a flu that knocked out the whole family, a windy day in Brindisi and a long-overdue haircut.

A rough start to 2018

The year didn't start that well. I spent the first ten days of 2018 in bed with a really bad flu, and it went through my partner and my kids too. Meanwhile I'd been watching lots of YouTubers talk about their plans, and I was still putting my ideas together. So this video is me thinking out loud.

Goal one: post more often

As you know, I have twins, and time has become a really big issue. Even while recording this, the kids were playing and screaming in the next room. I have so many ideas. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with a great one, but I'm too scared of making noise and waking the twins to get up and write it down. So the first goal was to post more frequently, ideally one video a week, and organise my time better.

Goal two: a trailer of my life

The day before, I'd watched an incredible intro video by Casey Neistat: four minutes, really powerful. He's one of my favourite YouTubers, together with Peter McKinnon. I don't aim for something that good, but I wanted to make a simple introduction to who I am, what I want to do and what I'm passionate about.

Goal three: 2,000 subscribers

At the time I had a little more than 100 subscribers. Being realistic about my time and how many videos I could make, I said I'd be really happy with 2,000 by the end of 2018. Then I went out to shoot with a friend near the monument in the harbour, but the wind was too strong, so we moved to the beach on the other side of the city. And yes, I finally got that haircut.

The video ends with the LensBall giveaway results: the 80 mm went to Zsolt Pinter in Hungary and the 60 mm to Shari Hinson in the USA.
