Day 1 of an experiment in December 2018: seven short daily vlogs counting down to Christmas. The first topic was something I honestly hate: vlogging in public.
A seven-day countdown
In my previous video I admitted I can't be consistent, so I decided to challenge myself. I'd try to daily vlog for one week, one short video a day until Christmas Day. I didn't want to call it Vlogmas, because it wasn't going to be about Christmas, even though it started exactly seven days before.
Why I hate vlogging in public
As you can see in the video, I'm not in public. I started out as a cameraman, behind the camera. Talking to an inanimate object felt ridiculous. Thanks to the vloggers I follow, my "teachers" like Peter McKinnon and Casey Neistat, it became normal for me. But in a city like Brindisi, someone talking to a camera is still seen as a bit crazy. It's not the news, so why are you talking to it? So every time I vlog I have to find a beautiful spot and make sure nobody is around. It's happened more than once that people gathered around me while I was talking, and I just froze.
Public speaking is a gift, and I wasn't lucky enough to be born with it. For me it's a skill I have to develop.
