In June 2018 I'd just passed 300 subscribers, and to celebrate I spent an afternoon in a field flying every DJI drone of the moment, all thanks to my friend Werner. It felt like Christmas.
Thank you, 300 of you
First of all, thank you. I had just reached 300 subscribers and my last video had gone viral. When things like that happen as a creator, you're always happy, because it means someone appreciates what you do.
A field full of DJI
We went out with Werner, who owns more than one drone, to test them out and teach some newbie friends how to pilot them. Honestly, I was a bit embarrassed to take out my little DJI Spark. Next to it we had a Phantom 4 Pro, a Mavic Air and the guys were flying the Mavic Pro. Basically, the whole DJI line-up in one afternoon.
The little one turned out to be the real pilot: Hasan took the controls and flew like he'd been doing it forever.
Portability and that gimbal
For portability, the Mavic Air wins. The Mavic Pro's weak point was the gimbal. Werner had already had to send his in once, and you have to be really, absolutely careful with it, because it's easy to break. We saw the problem live in the field.
I also learned something important that day: I need to stay far away from Werner, otherwise I'll start spending all my money on drones and my wife will kick me out. Isn't that true?
A unique afternoon
I felt like a kid at Christmas. Not many people get the chance to try all the DJI drones at the same time, in the same afternoon, and I did. Thank you Werner for the opportunity, and thank you Hasan and Olli for being there with me. I really hope we can do it again. And I was still waiting for the Parrot Anafi to arrive so we could test that too.
