A very short one from June 2019: DJI announced another event, "Learn to Win", for the 11th of June, and I couldn't help hoping it was finally the Spark II.
Is it finally here?
Was DJI finally releasing a new drone? Was it the Spark II? If so, I thought it would be a great moment in drone history. All over the world, new and more restrictive rules for flying drones were being introduced, and everyone was waiting for a drone under 250 grams, light enough to fall into the simplest category. Fingers crossed, I said.
What actually happened
In hindsight, "Learn to Win" wasn't a drone at all: it was the launch of the RoboMaster S1, DJI's educational ground robot. That was my second wrong guess in a row, and the sub-250 g DJI drone we were all waiting for arrived later that year as the Mavic Mini.
